Cops are People Too...Aren't They? Police are people too aren’t they? Well until recently I was sure they were but as I have learned, they are not. I have since learned that some police officers are god like creatures among us mere mortals, with special powers and the assumption they are above the law. To be fair I must preface this article with a personal account of a recent run in I had with a few members of the wonderful Los Angeles Port Police. It was a clear summer day that promised to be a nice and relaxing environment for the more than 10,000 people expected to attend a large community function. As a member of the committee for said function, I was bustling about my business, setting in place last minute preparations when the word came from the fire marshal that no vehicles were allowed to enter the premises regardless of the occupants. This message was forwarded to members of my crew whose function it was to enforce the traffic rules. All went well for a brief moment until two plain clothed police officers pulled up in their personal vehicles and wanted access to the venue. The driver of the first vehicle flashed his badge as though this would impress any one other than his girlfriend. The members of my crew passed along the fire marshals words and told them they may not enter. Well apparently cops do not like to be told no. Quickly an argument ensued and ended with the cops speeding into the venue displaying what appeared to be a grown up temper tantrum. Now if this was the end of the story I must admit, it would not be fit to print. Fortunately for us, that is not the end of the story. Some time later I was called to the entrance by the fire marshal and the two police officers. Once there they began explaining to me how wrong it was for my team members to deny a police officer entrance. He kept saying that he flashed his badge as though this was important some how. I can flash a badge all fucking day. So what? Anyways, as I was explaining what the fire marshal had told us (at this point I must tell you the fire marshal gradually took his leave) tempers began to flair. The fat old cop began spouting outright lies to discredit my crew. I told him in a calm voice that I seriously doubted his allegations but if he provided proof I would be more than willing to handle it. Of course he denied any proof. At this point 2 other cops had joined them creating a semi circle around me. Allegations began to fly as to my crew’s dislike of the police and bullshit like that. Finally the sergeant (I know he was a sergeant because he was old and his shirt said sergeant) informed me that if necessary he was willing to use force to alleviate the situation. At this point I realized I was out gunned. I brought the situation to a close by diplomatic means while selling a piece of my soul in the process. I think it’s worth pointing out that the same cop that started this whole childish bullshit was the same person we had to force to move from a handicapped space last year as we turned away little old ladies in wheel chairs because his fat ass didn’t want to walk 5 extra feet. The point is that cop does not spell god. Now I have nothing against police or the law enforcement profession, but when we get ass holes using their chosen occupation as some sick ego feeding power trip, then yes I have a serious problem. Just because you enforce the law does not mean you are above it. If I get paid to file other people’s taxes you better believe your ass I still have to pay mine. If you want to be treated special than do something special, but don’t expect me or anyone else to part the fucking sea for you simply because you think you are important. This is no different than all the celebrities that want free shit just because they think they are somebody. Well I’ve got news for ALL of you. You aren’t shit. You are nothing but a bunch of bullshit fakers. People like this deserve to be exposed as the frauds they are. I think it’s safe to say that it’s idiots like this that give police they're negative rep. Now before you get all bent out of shape let me clarify one thing. I have nothing against hard working honest cops. I respect them for what they do in their humility. I have personally known cops that stand for something. I used to work at 7-11 (a local convenient store) and had cops come in all the time. As a community partner we offered them items at discount prices and you know what, very few of them took the discount. They told me they were no different, that they would pay their fair share. To me that is stand up. That is what I respect. Not that other bullshit. If you are a cop and this article offended you, then maybe you need to take a look at why. If you are one of the idiots then I sincerely hope you pay for your misdeeds. Innocent people do not deserve to be the brunt of your sick megalomaniacal fantasies. -= Bagoda =- |
