Tool of the Month
As I was getting ready this morning I turned on the news for 15 minutes or so and the count was 3. Three times I heard the SAME report of Mel Gibson being arrested. I heard about the failing health of Castro twice and the conflict in the Middle East only once. To me the fact that an actor was arrested for drunk driving is not too important. The fact that an actor made racial remarks is not that big of a deal to me. But the fact that this idiot has the balls to make statements of love and peace after such an incident really chaps my hide. Submitted for your review are excerpts from his second (more thorough) published apology. 1.) "I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out (I’ll leave that one alone), or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words." He went on to say “This includes all the, spicks, spades, crackers, bitches and gooks.” 2.) "I'm not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one on one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing." Well Mr. Gibson life is not like your Christian “faith”. You cannot merely act like an ass your whole life, apologize and expect a clean slate. Reality has a tendency to be a bit more realistic. 3.) “I have begun an ongoing program of recovery and what I am now realizing is that I cannot do it alone.” What the fuck does that even mean? How can you begin an ongoing anything? If it’s just begun its not ongoing now then is it? This is what I believe he really meant to say…… “I’ve known I am an alcoholic for some time now but have chosen not to address it seriously. Now that I have made a total ass of myself I will blame it on the booze. My timely half assed attempt to save face should buy me some time to formulate a good plan to use this free publicity to enhance my career...blah blah blah Apocalypto” 4.) “I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display, and I am asking the Jewish community, whom I have personally offended, to help me on my journey through recovery.” I’ll save you the trouble of deep soul searching and psychological upheaval. The fact is that YOU HATE JEWS! Is that not clear to you? It’s o.k. to admit it. Isn’t that the first step on the road to recovery anyways? It’s been my experience that alcohol doesn’t merely facilitate fantasies on a whim, rather it gives the individual the courage to say and do that which is already present but normally would be held in check by sound reasoning. The fact is that you hate Jews Mel. Admit it and get on with your life. 5.) “The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God's child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith.” I’m pretty sure binge drinking is probably frowned upon too. I’m sure that invading arab nations and 98% of what what he Christian, ug I mean, Republican party, does goes against your faith as well. To me this statement reminds of a good ol’ southern boy testifying in church after beating his slave. Shut the fuck up Mel you are starting to piss me off. The fact remains that what’s been done is done. There is no turning back now. The reason Mel is the Tool Of The Month, is not because he was arrested for drunk driving, and not even because he made anti-Semitic remarks, rather, it’s for his blubbering cowardly reaction to this whole ridiculous affair. This is just another case of political correctness eroding the fabric of our society. We are not all the same and some are better than others (if only in our minds). The fact is that every one is entitled to their opinion. Mr. Gibson if you hate Jews then hate Jews. But please don’t apologize for it. That just makes you look like a pussy. I like the color blue but I’ll be damned if I’m going to apologize for it. I can respect a man that says to me “I dislike you because ___”. That is much more respectable than a man hiding his hate behind a wall of sugar coated lies, letting it out one jab at a time. If anything in this article pissed you off, good. Then maybe it got you thinking. I personally have never given the Jews a second thought (even though I have Jewish blood running in my veins) nor will I think much about them after this article is finished. The point is to bring attention to the stupidity of focusing on the words of a single individual. If we used half the air time or print space this story took up for positive purposes, we could have done some fucking good. -= Bagoda =- |
